I-CON 2011

As I type this, I am prepping and getting ready for the big to-do at Altoona's Adventure(come on over to)landInn: the Iowa Comic Book Club I-CON. We've been to this show several times before. It has been at several locations, including the Civic Center downtown Des Moines, as well as the 4H Building at the Iowa State Fairgrounds. It's always been a good time, except for the fact that in the last few years it's been when the Iowa Hawkeyes manage to lay a mighty egg against whatever opponent they should have beat. Well, that is no longer the case. As you know, the Hawks pulled off this feat last weekend against the Iowa State Cyclones. A heartbreaker to the black and gold faithful, but it's kind of nice to have this loss out of our system. While it can be thrilling to witness the high-wire act that is the University of Iowa Football program week in and week out, it begins to fray the nerves. At my semi-advanced age, I could do with less thrills, thank you very much.

Anyway, back to comics. We will be represented well with myself, John Ira Thomas and Will Grant. Come on down and get a free collector's item postcard. This year we feature Nikki Harris wearing a Grantham Academy CyberBall jersey (just in time for the CyberBall season to kickoff some many years from now) and on the other side yet another amazing work from Will Grant showing off more of Lost in the Wash.

So, stop by, say 'howdy' pick up some books and maybe get a sketch or two! See you in Altoona!
